The most interesting item of the group due to it being nearly complete and because the address on the back included the name Jesus Christ – most likely intended as a blessing to the recipient. The test is in Coptic and Apa Sabinos is mentioned in the letter. Our collection of books includes a copy of Prodromus Coptus Sive Aegyptiacs by the great medieval polymath Athanasius Kircher from 1636. This is the first book to feature Coptic type and Kircher was the first to postulate, correctly, that Coptic was derived from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. The detail here is from a page discussing the forms of the name Jesus Christ as it appeared in Coptic.
Another nearly complete Coptic document. Curiously there is no address on the back.
